英语口语测试经常问的问题是考研原因，通常可以从以下三个方面来回答。

1.兴趣，即强调对所报考的专业怀有极大的兴趣（have significant interest in…）。如果本科就读的专业与报考的专业一致，则可以说明想继续深造（further education）的愿望。如果不一致，则要说明报考专业对你的吸引力（…appeals to/attracts me a lot）。

2.优势，即强调研究生相对于本科生在知识、学术方面的优势。如：知识面更广（wider knowledge）、学术更专业（more professional）、眼界更广阔等（broaden one's horizon）。

近几年来，高职院校公共英语与专业英语的课程开设矛盾愈演愈烈，也产生了一些“去除公共英语，各专业只开设专业英语”的言论。公共英语到底何去何从，只单纯地用专业英语教学取代整个英语教学是否合适？笔者尝试以根基础观理论为基础，重构了高职英语课程结构，开发了典型的项目教学情境，将公共英语与专业英语课程进行了有机的整合，并运用于教学实践中，取得了良好的教学效果。

一、基于“根基础观”的课程开发思路

基础观主要有两类：

一类是基于建筑学的静态基础观，它要求事先将基础都打好，而且打好后就不再变化。我们传统的英语课程结构就是这样先打基础再学专业，好比“起高楼”，但如果学生基础学得太差，楼房就“起”不高。

第二类是基于生物学的动态基础观，即“根基础观”，它认为基础不是事先完全打好的，不是一成不变的，基础的形成是个生成的过程，是个发展的过程。“根基础观”是动态基础观，它的核心内涵就在于认为基础是动态发展变化的，因此，学习可以不必把所有的基础都打好后再接触专业内容，而是一边打基础一边接触专业，其基础的形成伴随专业的成长。基于根基础观的英语课程结构更贴合高职院校实际，更适合高职学生进行英语学习。

图2所示的基于“根基础观”的英语课程结构，它不再按传统的做法先打基础再学专业（如图1），而是在学生进校后就让其接触到专业英语内容，最初是以基础英语为主，以专业英语为辅，随着时间的变化再逐步动态调整专业英语与基础英语的比例。同时，公共英语与专业英语也不是互相独立的两个课程，而是利用与专业相关的生活和工作情境如日常交流、外宾接待、求职、产品介绍、典型设备英文说明识读等，将公共英语课程与专业英语课程有机地整合为一体，最终建立起为专业系部服务的职教英语公共教学平台。

二、基于“根基础观”的英语课程设计内容

依据根基础观理论，笔者经过反复的研讨和实践，从电类专业入手，将公共英语课程与电类专业英语课程有机地整合为一个整体，选取12个情境项目作为公共英语与电类专业英语的整合课程内容。这些情境包括日常交流、交友聚会、购物、用餐、旅游出行、银行业务办理、住宿、就医、求职、外宾接待、产品介绍、设备说明识读，涵盖学习、生活、工作等多方面的内容。其中，学习生活的项目，如日常交流、住宿、旅游等可作为各专业通用项目，外宾接待、产品介绍、设备说明识读等项目则是电类专业的专有项目。

以上12个项目都源于学习、生活、工作的日常情境，能让学生身临其境，最大程度地激发学生的学习兴趣和热情。每个项目都划分了听、说、读、写、译五个教学活动模块，以项目Introduction & Greetings为例，项目目标是要求学生能掌握人们介绍和问候时的日常用语，能完成基本日常交流。知识包括：①听说：问候与介绍的常用句型和表达。②阅读：词汇、“no matter”句型结构。③翻译：单词和短语的运用。其主要训练方式手段有：①学生分组或分角色练习对话。②学生的发音及语调练习。③对不同国家人们介绍和问候的习俗作简要介绍。通过学习，学生最终能掌握并灵活运用有关介绍和问候的常用表达方式进行日常交流。

课程的项目考核评价由平时考核和期末考核组成。平时考核包括学生出勤、纪律、团队合作、责任心、文字与语言表达等。期末考核采用口试和笔试相结合的方式，口试方面，教师根据各个口语模块自拟考题，对学生进行相应的口语考核；笔试方面，教师对各单元的关键知识技能点进行综合考核。

基于根基础观的高职英语课程设计开发是高职院校英语课程改革的一种切实可行的新途径。与生活和工作密切相关的教学情境的开发，将极大地激发学生的学习热情和钻研精神，也进一步将公共英语与专业英语有机融合为一体。笔者在公共英语与电类专业英语的整合上进行了相关研究与实践，效果显著，但公共英语与其他专业类英语的整合以及相应情境开发还有待进一步研究。
